Physics Tales: Rise of Tensors

Apart from Scalar & Vector kingdoms, there was a 3rd kingdom which nobody knew much about. The Tensor kingdom.

Tensors were quiet mysterious & as they were hard to understand, no army could defeat them.

Vectors were aware that along with Strength & Vision (magnitude & direction), Tensors also possessed some 3rd kind of power.

To expose this power, Vectors devised a plan by collaborating with Scalars.

Two brave warriors from each kingdom were chosen to spy on Tensors. They were Force & Area.

Their first task was to slip in the Tensor kingdom stealthily & keep a watch on its citizens. They were to observe their behaviour & find out their unknown power.

If they needed any resources as a backup during their mission, another warrior called Length was chosen to assist them.

When they reached the Tensor kingdom, they decided to know the background of Tensors.

For that they 1st needed to meet the older citizens of this kingdom to listen their story.

One such old citizen they met was Moment of Inertia. Popularly known as ‘MI’ among his friends.

MI began to narrate his story ..

“Long ago, there were only Tensors all around the world. No other kingdom existed. I was born in a poor family. My parents were striving day & night to gather food for strength (magnitude).”

“Who were your parents?” asked Area.

MI said, “They were rank zero tensors.”

“What do you mean?” asked Length who was curious. “They were Scalars.” answered MI.

Upon hearing those words, Length & Area were shocked. They looked at each other with disbelief!

Force, who was quietly listening the conversation, noted down his first observation -

‘Scalar is a rank zero Tensor’
